Three professional timepieces, the Seamaster 300, the Railmaster and the Speedmaster, that would all go on to become absolute classics, were released by OMEGA in 1957. In 2017, OMEGA, by releasing special 60th Anniversary editions of each model, is paying tribute to these three mechanical masterpieces.
THE SPEEDMASTER 60TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION 38.6MM
The first Speedmaster, features the “Broad Arrow”, was the first chronograph wristwatch in the world with its tachymeter scale on the bezel as opposed to printed on the dial. Equipped perfectly with the original ’57 tachymeter, and powered by the 1861 calibre, this 2017 Speedmaster stays true to this design.
THE RAILMASTER 60TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION 38 MM
The 1957 Railmaster was designed for those working close to electrical fields. Though the original’s unpretentious style is retained, the equipped Master Chronometer 8806 movement takes antimagnetic to a whole new level, resisting fields of 15,000 gauss.
THE SEAMASTER 300 – 60TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION 39 MM
Based on the CK2913, equipped with a black aluminium bezel and retains the famous Naiad sign on the crown, this new Seamaster 300, which back in ’57, is exceptionally water resistance. This 2017 model is powered by the Master Chronometer 8806.
STRICTLY LIMITED EDITIONS
Each watch is limited to 3,557 pieces and is delivered inside a presentation box with the Seahorse on the lid, a retro logo and beige corduroy lining, inspired by the original 1957 packaging. The box also contains two spare straps; leather and NATO, as well as a tool to change them.
COMMON QUALITIES
All three watches feature a black ‘tropical’ dial, and are cased in brushed and polished stainless steel. Filling with Super-LumiNova, the vintage indexes are slightly deepened. The stainless steel bracelet have been updated for strength and aesthetics and feature a retro-style OMEGA logo on the clasp.
OWNING ALL THREE
OMEGA has created a very special Trilogy box, limited to just 557 pieces, for enthusiasts not content with owning just one of these classic watches. All three watches are engraved with identical Limited Edition numbers and beautifully presented within a specially-engraved Swiss oak box, which also includes a leather watch roll with six spare straps (three leather / three NATO) as well as a wooden spring bar changing tool.
